Official Word on Mercon SP vs. LV Ive owned my 2004 6.0 CCSB for 13 years now, just rolled 190k and trans still works buttery smooth. I've always done meticulous maintenance on the rig and did the 6.4 pan/filter swap a long time ago, with pan drain/filter swaps @ 30k. and I have continued to use Mercon SP fluid.

I wasn't sure if 10 microns was enough. I had it on my Explorer and was successfully able to remove the scratch with PolyWatch Glass Polish diamond paste (not to be mistaken for their plexiglass product). I . You will need two different grades. Start with something like 2.5-3.0 micron to remove the scratch but that will leave the area a tad hazy so you need to go over it a second time with a final polish 0.5-1.0 micron. Take some pauses if/when the crystal gets real warm. If the scratch remains, rinse and repeat from steps two and three. If it’s gone, rinse and wipe away residue or fingerprints with a watch cloth. A fresh scratch on an otherwise flawless crystal is a devastating sight. Fortunately, fixing one is cheap and easy to do at home. You have a service replacement acrylic crystal. Rolex does not replace acrylic with sapphire. _____ Click on the "larger resolution" icon for best view of the scratch defects: I tried Cape Cod, Brasso, & PolyWatch, all provided w/absolute ZERO results. The fourth try was a charm.
